Apply for a license to practice medicine

Prerequisites

• You have successfully completed a degree in Germany or an equivalent qualification from abroad.
• They are suitable in terms of health and personal characteristics.
• You have sufficient knowledge of the German language.

Documents required

• Application with declaration of pending criminal and investigative proceedings
• Short, complete CV with date and signature
• birth certificate
• For married people, the marriage certificate or an extract from the family register
• proof of identity (identity card, passport, travel document)
• Medical certificate, which must not be older than three months at the time of granting the license. (Medical certificates from family members and life partners are not accepted)
• Certificate of medical examination (must only be attached to the application if the license is not applied for before or shortly after the medical examination.)

• You apply for approval from the responsible authority.
  • If you received your degree in Germany, you can apply for approval online.
  • If you have completed your degree abroad, apply for approval in writing.
  • Any necessary forms can be found under the following links.
• The responsible authority will inform you whether your application is complete or whether you need to submit further documents.
• After a positive review, the responsible authority will grant approval and send you the approval certificate.
