Experience Future Mobility in Hamburg

The Free and Hanseatic City of Hamburg successfully outbid the competition to host the 2021 ITS World Congress for intelligent traffic systems and services.

Together with the European industrial association ERTICO and Hamburg Senator Frank Horch, ITS Europe announced the international ITS jury’s decision at the 2017 World Congress in Montreal, Canada. After submitting its bid together with the Volkswagen Group and with backing from both Hamburg Convention Bureau GmbH and the city’s Chamber of Commerce, Hamburg won out against three other potential host cities.

In cooperation with the Federal Ministry of Transport and Digital Infrastructure, Hamburg went on to host the world’s largest traffic conference in October 2021. The event took place at the Congress Center Hamburg (CCH) and the Messehallen Convention Centre, as well as at other various locations throughout the city. More information regarding the World Congress can be found here.

In Europe every 3 Years

Every three years, the ITS World Congress takes place in Europe. In the meantime, cities on the American continents and in Asia host the annual event. More than 10,000 participants attend the conferences and exhibitions every year to talk shop or join the live demonstrations. On 17 - 21 September 2018 the World Congress for intelligent traffic systems and services took place in Copenhagen. Singapore and Los Angeles were chosen as the 2019 and 2020 host cities.
