About Us
An IQ project executed by the Diakonisches Werk Hamburg, the Central Recognition Office (Zentrale Anlaufstelle Anerkennung, ZAA) offers advice and assistance regarding the approval of foreign professional qualification and provides information on questions relating to the Recognition Act.
Our Services
We advise people with foreign educational and vocational qualifications:
- We offer guidance and advice, provide information about the relevant recognition bodies and funding options for recognition procedures, such as the City of Hamburg's scholarship program.
- We answer your questions about the recognition notification and explain whether you still need qualifications to obtain final recognition.
- We advise on residence law issues in the context of the recognition of foreign educational and professional qualifications.
The ZAA also organises training classes and workshop events on the approval of foreign professional qualifications.
Counselling is provided in the language of the person seeking advice; if necessary, with the help of an interpreter.

- the fully completed consultation form (web form),
- the documents mentioned in the form.

We are happy to offer our advice per email or by appointment via phone or video call or in person (in an individual or in a qualification-related group-consultation) at the Hamburg Welcome Center (HWC).
