The Hamburg Service vor Ort - Einwohnerangelegenheiten is responsible, among other things, for registering residences, provides registration certificates and official certification of copies of official documents.

Customer Service Centres - Hamburg Welcome Portal

The previous customer service centers have been transferred to the new Hamburg Service vor Ort - Standorte Einwohnerangelegenheiten ('Residents' Affairs'). The addresses of the locations do not change.

The tasks of the locations Einwohnerangelegenheiten include:

  • Registration and de-registration 
  • Registration certificates
  • official certification of copies of official documents issued by authorities
  • Declarations of commitment for stays of less than 90 days
  • Authentication for the Service Account Plus ('Servicekonto Plus')

You need an appointment to use a service. You can choose any location that has an appointment available. This may be in a different district to where you live.

Note: When moving within Hamburg the registration of single households in Hamburg is offered online. It is no longer necessary to visit the authority in person.

Declarations of Commitment

You can only book appointments for Declarations of Commitment ('Verpflichtungserklärungen') under 90 days online or via phone at the Residents' Affairs location in the district where you live. Exceptions are the locations Bergedorf and Billstedt, which you contact via e-mail for an appointment.

For Declarations of Commitment for a stay of more than 90 days, the locations of the Hamburg Service - Ausländerangelegenheiten ('Foreigners' Affairs') are responsible.
