★★★★★ Hotels The Fontenay (Rotherbaum)

The architecturally stunning Fontenay by the Alster lake, adds a brand-new five-star hotel to Hamburg's name.

The Fontenay Hotel

When the New York Times included Hamburg in its list of must-see destinations in the world, the pending opening of the “uber-luxurious” THE FONTENAY hotel got a very special mention. In addition to the Elbphilharmonie venue, great shopping and dining opportunities as well as countless public events, the five-star hotel by the Outer Alster lake is yet another piece of the puzzle when it comes to high-end tourism in Hamburg.

Aspiring to be one of the best luxury hotels in Europe, THE FONTENAY in Rotherbaum district opened its doors in late March 2018. With the declared goal to attract even more international guests to the city of Hamburg, THE FONTENAY comprises 131 guest rooms, including a large luxury suite that measures no less than 245 sqm. The modern architecture relies heavily on rounded shapes and leaves lots of room for green areas.

The light-flooded Lakeside Restaurant on the roof of the hotel overlooks the Alster lake and is led by Michelin-star-studded Swiss cook Cornelius Speinle. The Fontenay Bar and the Atrium Lounge also meet only the highest standards. Nothing less can be said about the spa area that offers an infinity pool on the water level of the Alster lake as well as an outdoor pool on the hotel’s roof terrace.
