In the cosy shopping street behind Altona station, the merry and cheerful huddle together around the many Glühwein booths of the Ottensen Christmas market. The Ottenser Hauptstraße pedestrian zone is transformed into a bustling winter-wonderland in the weeks leading up to Christmas, with 40 red-and-white stalls selling anything from handicrafts to international delicacies. On the other side of Altona station, the Große Bergstraße Christmas market provides visitors with a lively entertainment programme in addition to its many stalls.
