Lübeck Christmas Market
The Christmas market in the World Heritage City of Lübeck is one of the most beautiful in Germany. It’s even famous beyond the country's borders – and with good reason! The Lübeck Christmas market has been welcoming visitors since 1648. The beautiful setting in front of the town hall, the lovingly selected arts and crafts vendors, the scent of marzipan and roasted almonds in the air, and the quaint food and drink stalls all add to the charm of Lübeck's Christmas market. A stroll through the well-preserved old town with its festively decorated pedestrian zone is worth a visit in itself.

Christmas on Fehmarn
The Christmas market in Burg auf Fehmarn is not quite as old as that in Lübeck, but it is no less charming. Burg's market square is ablaze with lights during Advent. The Scandinavian-style market stalls are set up around a huge, decorated fir tree. In keeping with the Baltic Sea island, visitors can even make themselves comfortable in beach chairs to enjoy the Christmas flair. Every day there is an entertainment programme with live music, an open-air cinema, and children's entertainment. Father Christmas also pays a visit and has many a treat and story in store.

Wismar Christmas Market
Framed by the unique backdrop of the historic market square in Wismar, Swedish-style huts with Christmas delicacies, Christmas tree decorations, handmade toys and candles create a festive atmosphere. Visitors to the Wismar Christmas market can enjoy a live entertainment programme on all Advent Sundays.

Mölln Christmas Market
Delicious pastries and grilled delicacies, mulled wine and poffertjes pancakes - every year, the town of Mölln in the Duchy of Lauenburg invites visitors to its festively decorated market square. With its thousands of lights, poinsettia and red baubles, the Christmas tree towers high above the market stalls. The setting of Mölln's Christmas market is a picturesque one, formed by St. Nicholas' Church and neat half-timbered houses. In addition to the stalls on the market square, the arts and crafts market in the historic town hall offers a fine selection of jewellery, accessories, and Advent decorations.

Pronstorf Christmas
The Pronstorf Estate on the edge of Holstein Switzerland has been organising a Christmas market set against the backdrop of the baroque manor house for over 25 years. More than 100 artists and craftspeople display decorative items made from glass, clay, wood, cardboard and many other materials in front of the lovely manor house. Stalls with natural products such as honey, cheese, smoked fish, bread and jams round out the shopping opportunities. Historic carol singers perform songs and St. Nicholas comes with his elves. The Pronstorf Christmas market also features a village of Swedish wooden huts.

Lüneburg Town Hall Christmas Market
Just a stone's throw from Hamburg, the Lüneburg Town Hall Christmas market invites visitors to take an atmospheric stroll through its picturesque stalls. The historic town hall is beautifully illuminated for the occasion and the wooden stalls throughout the market offer tasty treats. An antique children's carousel and the historic old town create a cheerful Christmas atmosphere. If you are already in Lüneburg, you can also visit the Christmas market at St. Johannis Church, just a few metres away.

Stade Christmas Market
Every December, Stade’s old town centre becomes like a living room for the whole family as the most wonderful time of the year begins: the town centre takes on a festive mood for Christmas with market stells, decorated alleyways and holiday lighting.

The traditional Stade Christmas market takes place around the large Christmas pyramid at the Pferdemarkt square. Stalls with tasty treats, mulled wine and arts and crafts await visitors, while a stage programme provides a festive atmosphere and musical entertainment.

Nordlicht, the Scandinavian Christmas market, also makes an appearance every year. Scandinavian-style wooden huts with delicacies and handicrafts create a special atmosphere around the Hanseatic harbour. The curling rink in front of the Schwedenspeicher Museum, which offers a children's programme and cinema on Advent Sundays, is an active and sociable place.

Lovers of handicrafts will get their money's worth at the arts and crafts market in the town hall on all Advent weekends.
