North Sea Resorts

With miles of coast and islands, the North Sea is a popular spot for holidaymakers, inviting visitors to see the sights and relax by the sea.

The North Sea coast has many resorts, including Juist, known for being car-free, the island of Sylt, where the rich and famous meet, and Bremerhaven, which encompasses both modern and traditional sea resort styles.

Sights and Activities

Don't miss the Wattenmeer UNESCO site and its expansive mudflats, which are home to many different plants and animals. Run or hike by the North Sea, or take your bike along and cycle the Nordseeküstenradweg (German only) past lighthouses and cosy fishing villages.

Why not take to the water and try your hand at some more extreme watersports? Aside from sailing and swimming, visitors can try kitesurfing, windsurfing and even water skiing.

Regional Culture

There is also plenty of culture to be experienced in the North Sea area. Countless museums, such as the Fishing Museum (German only) in Cuxhaven or the Marine Museum (German only) in Wilhelmshaven offer a taste of the region's history. Take a look at one of the many lighthouses across the region, or take a boat trip out onto the sea waters to admire the scenery ─ and maybe even spot some seals.
