Castle on the Water

Glücksburg Castle is one of the most important castles in North Germany - rested on the water, it is built on an old monastery and once housed important dukes and nobility.
The castle has transformed into a museum, but one with a personal touch. The original furnishing means that visitors get a real experience of the castle as it was once used.

History and Architecture

Aside from the stunning architecture and impressive stucco ceilings - which date all the way back to the Thirty Years War - the castle has an important collection of Dutch tapestries and Flemish leather wall coverings. The castle also houses many old and interesting portraits, which follow the families and history of the castle, including lifestyle and war.

Events in the Castle

The castle also has beautiful grounds, complete with huge gardens and lakes, as well as a Rose garden. The castle hosts a variety of events every year, for which tickets can be bought online. Alternatively, you can host your own event at the castle, with options available for weddings, conferences and even children's birthday parties.
