The Sunshine Island
Germany's third largest island is an idyllic holiday destination, known as Germany's 'sunshine isle'. Linked to Germany by a bridge, and Denmark by a ferry, Fehmarn Island was made for holidaymakers young and old to relax ─ resting in the Baltic Sea, there is a popular pool complex with saunas for wellness activities and relaxation.
Countryside and Nature
If being active is more your thing, then Fehmarn Island has plenty to offer. A popular windsurfing spot thanks to its perfect conditions, it also hosts the annual KiteSurf-Trophy to showcase this exciting sport.
The miles of countryside, fields and meadows also allow visitors to take things at a gentler pace. Fehmarn is popular with birdwatchers, and has over 200 different species in the Wallnau nature area, which is one of North Germany's best ecological environments.
