HASPA Marathon

Be one of the 25,000 runners racing through Hamburg's port, parks and city centre or cheer them on their way.

Haspa Marathon Hamburg

Mastering the 42.195 kilometres of Hamburg’s maritime HASPA Marathon takes dedication, willpower and a lot of training. It helps however, that since the first Hamburg Marathon in 1986, the race has literally come a long way and allows for the smoothest run possible.

Additionally, the scenery couldn’t be more diverse and exciting. The 25.000 runners of the annual marathon are led past the beautiful Alster lakes, HafenCity district, and along the Elbe river. They follow the blue line on the ground from one site to the next, be it the Reeperbahn, Fish Market, Landungsbrücken, Elbphilharmonie or Stadtpark (see the interactive map).

And if that doesn’t help, the thousands of fans in Hamburg will be there to carry athletes across the finish line with their cheers. Taking place in late April, there is also a fair chance for ideal running conditions.

Professional runners might even get close to the impressive 2:05:30 that marks the all-time record. Amateurs aspire to crack their personal best. Everybody can take part, provided they are physically capable and at least 18 years of age.

Alternatively, sports-enthusiasts can register for the half-marathon or the relay race.
