Street Art Takes Over Altona

For three days each summer, STAMP (Street Arts Melting Pot) transforms Altona into an international festival for art and theatre in public spaces. Contemporary circus, immersive theatre, site-specific productions, participatory performances, and artistic interventions fill the streets — genres blur, boundaries dissolve, and the city itself becomes the stage.
The epicentre of the festival is Platz der Republik, between Altona station and the district's beautiful town hall, but the action spills out across the streets and squares of Altona and Ottensen. Art and theatre in public space have a unique power: to bring the most diverse people together, to carry social discourse out onto the street, and to reclaim urban spaces in imaginative ways. At the everyday places where people pass each other by, STAMP creates moments of genuine, plural togetherness.

No Schedules, No Barriers

At STAMP, art happens without entrance fees or boundaries between artists and audience. In workshops, flash mobs, and dance performances, the crowd is encouraged to join in. Those who feel overwhelmed by the sheer scale of the programme can join a free guided tour to the most impressive street art sites.
