Building Bridges in Altona
With a wide variety of events, Altona Diversity Week aims to provide an opportunity to address the challenges of diversity and to approach them constructively. The goal is to foster the ability to embrace differences between people and enable the participation and networking of various groups. This, in turn, is intended to help reduce fear and prejudice, in line with the district’s diversity strategy in Altona. The development of strong alliances is a key focus, helping to combat exclusion and group-based discrimination.
Each year the Altona Diversity Week covers a broad range of topics. Issues such as racism, sexism, homophobia, anti-Muslim racism, antiziganism, anti-Semitism, ableism, and homelessness are addressed. Throughout the week, a variety of event formats take place at different locations, catering to different audiences. These events are organised and introduced by the various stakeholders within the district. By contributing to Altona Diversity Week, the work and dedication of organisations, institutions, and their projects are given visibility.
