Hamburg is Colourful
As a worldly and welcoming city, Hamburg has a vibrant LGBTQIA+ community. To celebrate this community, the annual Pride Week offers a multitude of events in wide range of locations, including clubs, bars, churches, Hamburg City Hall – and, of course, the streets.
Activists and associations from the community organise performances and parties to celebrate achievements like the legalisation of same-sex marriage, while lectures, round-tables and panels remind attendees that equality is still far from the norm in many parts of the world when it comes to sexual orientation and gender identity.
The annual highlight of Hamburg Pride Week is the grand Christopher Street Day (CSD) parade on Saturday. However, a wide array of info events and hands-on workshops with participation on the side of the audience takes place during the week before the parade. And everyone can show their support for the community by visiting the CSD Street Festival that takes place over the full weekend of the parade.
