Summer DOM 2026: Five Weeks of Thrills, Fireworks, and Fun Over Hamburg
Hamburg's Summer DOM is back — and this year, it's going the extra mile. From 24 July to 30 August 2026, Germany's largest funfair opens its gates for a landmark five-week run for the very first time, giving visitors even more time for adventure, family moments, and long summer evenings on the Heiligengeistfeld. Around 250 showmen deliver spectacular rides, beloved classics, a packed events calendar, and plenty of culinary temptations, from ice cream and sweet DOM classics to cocktails and beer garden evenings. Four fireworks illuminate the summer sky, making this one of the biggest and most varied funfairs northern Germany has ever seen.
What’s New?
This year's headline newcomer is the Hypnotizer, making its DOM premiere and turning heads from the moment it fires up. Soaring 30 metres into the air, it combines pendulum swings with a rotating gondola and three distinct ride programmes — Flight Mode opens up sweeping views across the fairground, Face Off Mode has riders staring each other down, and Trance Mode keeps the gondola spinning all the way to the finale. An animated grim reaper, an enormous LED sphere, and dramatic light and sound effects make it as spectacular to watch as it is to ride.
And in a nod to fairground history, 2026 also marks 100 years of the Autoscooter. The Dieckmann family's freshly modernised "Stardust" bumper car ride arrives with 28 brand-new cars that can be switched into drift mode at the touch of a button — proof that even a beloved classic can still find a way to surprise you.
Extreme Rides & Unique Attractions
Speed merchants and thrill-seekers are very well catered for. The Olympia Looping — the world's largest transportable roller coaster — delivers five loops, more than 1,250 metres of track, and top speeds exceeding 90 km/h. The Sky Fall sends up to 24 riders soaring to 80 metres before dropping them earthwards at roughly 90 km/h, while The Beast hurls its passengers through the air at up to 120 km/h, with rollovers at 40 metres and freely rotating gondolas. Airwolf delivers extraordinary flight manoeuvres with forces of up to 4g, and Jekyll & Hyde — the looping monster that reaches 125 km/h and 41 metres — remains as unforgiving as ever.
Water fans can cool off on the Piratenfluss log flume, winding through a richly detailed pirate world before drops from 11 and 7 metres, or take on Atlantis Rafting, Europe's only mobile rafting ride, sending groups of up to six along 140 metres of rushing water. The Nordic Tower swing ride ascends 80 metres above Hamburg's rooftops, the Wilde Maus – Das Original delivers its trademark hairpin turns and sharp drops, and the Rock & Rollercoaster mixes a spectacular first drop, rapid bends, and a full light and music show from its retro Chevrolet-styled cars. And the Mein Rad Ferris wheel, rising nearly 60 metres with 42 gondolas, offers a more serene way to take in the view.
Event Highlights
The five weeks kick off on 24 July at 3:00 PM, when State Councillor Dr. Christoph Schwieger officially opens the Summer DOM in front of the Rock & Rollercoaster. Guests can look forward to giveaways including ride voucher booklets, DOM teddy bears, and snack boxes — before the evening ends with the first of four fireworks at 10:30 PM.
On 30 July, the DOM turns rainbow-coloured for the 10th Regenbogentag, marking a decade of celebrating diversity and inclusion in partnership with Hamburg Pride e.V. and AHOI Events. The vibrant parade sets off at 7:00 PM from in front of the Ferris wheel, followed by music, confetti, and an aftershow party from 8:30 PM.
The 4th DOM Summer Games take place on 13 August from 2:30 PM, with visitors aged 8 and up competing in classic fairground challenges including duck fishing, tin can throwing, and bowling. Entry is free, but places are limited — sign up at dom-sommerspiele.de. Winners are honoured at the prize ceremony at 6:30 PM.
As always, the beloved DOM bear Bummel will make his rounds every Wednesday (4:00–6:00 PM) and Sunday (3:00–5:00 PM), spreading cheer and posing for selfies near the Ferris wheel — unless rain sends him back to his cosy cave.
Thanks to the extra week, visitors can enjoy four dazzling firework shows lighting up the Hamburg sky at 10:30 PM — on 24 July, 7 August, 21 August, and 28 August.
