DELETE / Triennial of Photography / Hanns-Jörg Anders

The exhibition deals with photojournalism and the question of how photographs make their way into the news media.

[DELETE] - Hamburg Triennial of Photography

The [DELETE] exhibition at the Museum für Kunst und Gewerbe (MKG, lit. Museum of Arts and Crafts) deals with the influence of the media on shaping public opinion. Focus is on photojournalism and in particular on photos that do not get published. By means of both historic and contemporary examples surrounding themes like migration, poverty, social problems and civil war, [DELETE] examines the selection of images for publication in the media. How do publishers, editors, writers and graphic designers influence the work of photographers and the significance of their images? Which mechanisms decide which images will be published, and which will remain invisible? With these questions in mind, MKG features photos from the 1960s up to the 1980s from the museum’s own archives. For more information, please see the Triennial website.
