One Friday a month, a marriage registrar unites up to four bridal couples in matrimony in the exquisite Phönixsaal hall in Hamburg’s Rathaus City Hall. The appointments are in great demand and usually booked out quickly.
Civil Marriage Appointments
The Hamburg-Mitte district registration office (German only) handles civil marriage appointments at the City Hall. Apart from the legal fees for registering a marriage, there are additional charges for a civil marriage ceremony at the City Hall: the registration office charges an extra service fee of €300, and the Hamburg City Hall charges an extra €150 for the use of their facilities.

Please note that due to high demand, appointments for civil marriage ceremonies at the Rathaus City Hall may be fully booked well into the future. Many registration offices in other districts of Hamburg also offer a selection of romantic and glamorous locations for a civil marriage ceremony.
