If you hold a fair or weekly market where only a small amount of livestock is sold, you can request that the event not be monitored. To do so, you must submit an application to the relevant authority.
You must notify the responsible authority in advance of any livestock exhibitions, livestock markets, cattle shows, competitions or similar events involving livestock.
You can receive financial support for cattle to detect damage caused by epizootics or other animal diseases at an early stage. This support also applies to measures to prevent, control, monitor and eradicate animal diseases.
If you run a slaughterhouse that is subject to reporting requirements, you must report your prices for slaughter quantities in the relevant categories and trade classes to the responsible authority.
You are required to pay a contribution to the animal health insurance fund in Hamburg for your livestock and you will be sent a notification of the annual contribution every year.
If you keep cattle, pigs, sheep, goats or horses, you must report your livestock to the Tierseuchenkasse Hamburg immediately. In the future, the current number of animals will be surveyed annually by the animal disease fund on the key date of March 1st.
If you would like to keep bee colonies, solipeds, ratites, game enclosures, camelids or other cloven-hoofed animals, you must notify the responsible authority in writing.
If you keep animals or handle animals, you are obliged to inform the responsible department for consumer protection, trade and the environment immediately if you suspect an animal disease. Outside the usual reachability, the police must be informed.
