BAföG is the abbreviation for Bundesausbildungsförderungsgesetz (Federal Training Assistance Act). In everyday language, BAföG refers to the financial aid you can receive under this law.


You will receive the funding for financing

  • your studies,
  • under certain conditions of a mandatory internship as part of your studies

The Hamburg Student Union provides comprehensive advice on individual funding opportunities in accordance with state and federal regulations. They also offer support with the application process.

You do not need to meet any prerequisites to receive BAföG advice. You will be informed about the requirements you must meet to receive BAföG during the consultation.
