Procedure

- You submit your application to the relevant authority.

- The responsible authority will review your application and may request missing documents or information from you.

- The responsible authority compares whether your professional qualification is equivalent to the German professional qualification.

- If the competent authority identifies significant differences, you may be able to compensate for these by providing evidence of your professional experience, other knowledge, skills or competences.

- If you cannot compensate for the significant differences, you can take a compensatory measure (for example, an adaptation course or a knowledge test).

- You can also waive an equivalence assessment and implement a compensatory measure directly.

If your professional qualification is equivalent or you have been able to compensate for the substantial differences, and you meet the other requirements, your foreign professional qualification will be recognized. The responsible authority can confirm the result to you in writing.

- You will receive permission to use the professional title.
