Detailed description
Your employer generally receives your wage tax deduction information electronically.
Paper documents such as the former wage tax card or a substitute certificate no longer exist.
An exception is made only in recognized cases of hardship.
In order for your employer to retrieve your ELStAM data electronically, they only need the following from you:
- Your tax identification number,
- Your date of birth and
- The indication of whether it is a primary or secondary employment relationship.
You will only receive a (replacement) certificate for wage tax deduction in exceptional cases. This is necessary, for example, if your ELStAM data is incorrect and cannot be corrected immediately. This ensures that wage tax deductions are carried out correctly.
