Natural mineral water that you want to market commercially must first undergo an official approval process. You need a permit to use the source from which you want to take the mineral water.

Detailed description

Natural mineral water is groundwater that originates from underground water sources protected from contamination and is extracted from one or more springs. It is of original purity and is characterized by its content of minerals, trace elements or other components. Its composition, temperature and other essential characteristics remain constant within the framework of natural fluctuations. It is untreated or may only be subjected to a few, precisely prescribed treatment processes.

Natural mineral water may only be extracted from sources for which the competent authority has issued a permit for use. The permit for use is issued upon application.

Prerequisites

An expert assessment proves that the necessary requirements are met.
The facilities intended for use are designed in such a way as to avoid contamination.
The facilities intended for use are designed in such a way as to preserve the properties which the water possesses at the source and which establish its character as natural water.

In particular,

the spring and the spring outlet must be protected against the risk of contamination, catchments, pipes and water tanks must be made of a material suitable for the mineral water and must be designed in such a way that they do not cause any adverse chemical, physico-chemical and microbiological changes to the water,
the facilities, in particular the bottle cleaning and filling systems, meet the hygiene requirements,
the containers must be treated or manufactured in such a way that they do not alter the microbiological and chemical characteristics of the mineral water.

Send your written application with all required documents to the responsible authority.
The application documents to be submitted must be enclosed in triplicate.
