Certificate of miscarriage

Prerequisites

• There was a miscarriage
• You can only make the notification if you would have been entitled to custody of the child if the child was born alive.
  • You were married to each other as parents at the time of the birth, or
  • You have already submitted a joint declaration of custody before the birth,
  • otherwise only the mother may apply for the certificate.

Documents required

• if available, a certificate of the miscarriage issued by a doctor, midwife or obstetrician
• maternity pass
• Identity card, passport or another recognized passport substitute document of the parents
• parents' birth certificates
• if available, marriage certificate of the parents
• if desired, details of the intended surname and first name of the child
• if applicable, certificate of the burial of the miscarriage

Procedure

• You can report it on site or in writing.
• If you would like to make the report in person, please make an appointment at the registry office by telephone or e-mail
• Bring the required documents with you to the appointment.
• An identity card, passport or other recognized passport substitute document of the parents.
• Marriage certificate and birth certificates of parents. An indication of the intended surname and first name of the child, if requested.
• The registry office issues the certificate based on the information provided.

Processing usually takes a week.
