What is bulky waste? Bulky waste is waste from private households that cannot be shredded by dismantling, tearing or breaking without technical effort, so that it fits into the black household waste bin.
Bulky waste includes, for example:

  • bulky waste
  • Pieces of furniture
  • Household appliances, electrical and electronic equipment
  • empty boxes
  • Household items that do not fit in the garbage cans, e.g. mattresses, etc.
This is not bulky waste:
  • Commercial and industrial waste
  • everything that fits in the garbage cans (e.g. also chopped up carpets or carpets)
  • Garden waste (also larger branches)
  • Construction waste (including gazebos) and wood from outside
  • sacks, boxes and cartons filled with waste
  • Recyclable materials, such as boxes filled with paper, cardboard or newspapers or empty boxes
  • Problem materials, such as filled paint buckets or paint cans
  • Building rubble (e.g. remnants of tiles)
You can have your bulky waste picked up from home for a fee or you can hand it in to recycling centers yourself free of charge. If you would like to have the bulky waste picked up, please contact us using the phone number provided under the contact details.
For furniture in good condition, there is the “gentle collection” (please mention in the phone call) and the Stilbruch second-hand goods market (see links).
Do you really want to do "Klar Schiff"? For a completely swept-clean evacuation, please also use the phone number stored under the contact details.

Due to the corona, there may currently be deviations from the services described above, please inform yourself using the phone number stored under the contact details.

Important notes

Prerequisites

When handing over bulky waste to recycling yards:
Due to a legal change, Stadtreinigung Hamburg can no longer automatically assume the origin of the waste from a Hamburg private household based on the Hamburg (HH) license plate number. Please understand, therefore, that the Hamburg city cleaning service generally asks for proof, which you can produce, for example, by presenting your identity card or passport with a confirmation of registration. If you have any doubts about the origin of the waste, you may be asked to provide information about yourself and to sign a form, the so-called "tax declaration". You hereby guarantee that your waste comes from a private Hamburg household.

Documents required

Please contact the Hamburg city cleaning service.

Please note

Delivery to recycling centers:
Your drop-off points for bulky waste, green waste, recyclable materials and problematic materials are the recycling yards. There is a style break exchange market for pieces in good condition. You can hand many things in free of charge at recycling centers.

Note:
Due to the corona, there may currently be deviations from the services described above, please inform yourself using the phone number stored under the contact details.
