Pupils with an (imminent) disability can be supported on the way to school if the need arises if the guardians cannot ensure this themselves.

Detailed description

It is only possible to apply for benefits for the way to school for school-age pupils with an (imminent) disability who live and attend school in Hamburg.



Applications for promotions to day-care centers should be submitted to the child day-care center in the respective district.



Applications for promotions to day-care centers should be addressed to the specialist office for integration assistance in the Wandsbek district office.

Documents required

  • Application for school travel assistance available at school or online
  • Statement from the school
  • if applicable, severely disabled person’s card
  • if applicable, working time certificate
  • Certificates of measures from the Federal Employment Agency or the Job Center
  • Medical certificate if the journey to school cannot be made with the legal guardian

Please note

Assistance on how to get to school can only be granted for disabled students or those with an impending disability if the requirements are met.


Temporary impairments such as injuries or other cannot be covered.

Procedure

Only applies to school travel assistance. Applications can be submitted both in paper form and online

  • Application by legal guardian
  • Submitting the application at school (applies to paper applications)
  • Statement from the school
  • Receipt of all documents in the Social Services department
  • Examination of membership of the group of eligible persons and the need for transport by the responsible health authorities or the See Hear Move Speak Advice Centre
  • Examination and decision in case of V 242 of the coverage of needs
  • If the prerequisite is met, transport is organised by V 242

Applications for transport to day care facilities must be submitted to the Department of Integration Assistance

Processing time

The processing time depends on the individual case. After the application has been received, statements will be obtained from the school and the health department. This is followed by the final processing. Inquiries about the processing status should be directed to the responsible school.


As a rule, processing takes about 14 days from receipt of the application at the BSB to the organization of the transport.
