Please apply for the services of a private school (privately sponsored school) such as a change of school, leave of absence or repetitions at the school your child is currently attending. There you will also receive initial advice on all matters.

The responsible department in the school authority can answer questions in particular on the following topics at state-approved/recognized private schools:
  • Examinations (external, internal, Abitur)
  • complaints
  • all-day care
  • school fees
  • admission procedure
  • deferrals
  • leave of absence
  • grade repetitions
  • Change of school (especially in state systems)
  • Student transport for private students
  • school trips

Prerequisites

Your child is already registered at an independent school or you are considering registering your child at one.

This information only applies to privately owned general education schools.

Deadlines depend on the individual case.

Procedure

The specific procedure depends on the service. Basically, when submitting an application, you should first enter into a dialogue with your school and then submit an application to them. Your school will forward the application to the Office for Schools and Vocational Training. Once a decision has been made, we will inform you of this in a notification.

Legal remedies

You can object to a decision within one month. This has no suspensive effect. However, if the objection procedure is wholly or partially unsuccessful, costs may arise.
