Detailed description

The broadcasting fee is a flat fee that all households in Germany must pay to finance public broadcasters such as ARD, ZDF and Deutschlandradio. It is charged per household, regardless of how many devices are available for receiving radio and television.



Share any changes to your personal data regarding broadcasting fees, such as

  • Change of address, for example because you have moved or
  • name change or
  • change your bank details

that of the competent authority.

If you do not report the changes, you are committing an administrative offence. The administrative offence can be punished with a fine.

Report any changes to the data immediately.

Procedure

  • If your personal data relating to the broadcasting fee changes, you can notify us via the online service of the contribution service or in writing using the form.
  • You choose whether you want to change the address, name, bank details or payment method.
  • You fill out the online form on the contribution service website. You enter the new address, account details or personal information.
  • Alternatively, you can notify us of the changes in writing using the appropriate form by post.
  • The responsible authority will check whether your new data is plausible and complies with the legal requirements of the Interstate Broadcasting Treaty.
  • The responsible authority records your new data and compares it with the existing information.
  • If your address has changed, it may be compared with the data held by the relevant registration authority.
  • If your bank details or your name have changed, they will be compared with the payment details or your previous contribution account.
  • If your bank details or payment method have changed, future payments will be adjusted accordingly.
  • If the update results in a change in the contribution obligation, the competent authority will take this into account.
  • You will receive a confirmation by post or email.

Processing time

Processing time is usually 4 to 6 weeks.

Changing the data is free of charge.
