Collecting a towed vehicle

If your vehicle has been towed, you can pick it up again.

Detailed description

If your vehicle is no longer where you parked it, it may have been towed away because you parked illegally. In Hamburg, there is a central depot for vehicles that have been parked illegally and then towed away. In individual cases, vehicles are also moved to other suitable locations in the immediate vicinity. The police station responsible for the location where you parked your car illegally can provide information about where your vehicle was taken.

Prerequisites

Your vehicle was towed.

Documents required

  • Identity card, passport or other personal document with current registered address or in conjunction with an official registration certificate
  • Vehicle registration document or vehicle registration certificate
  • Cash or debit card

The vehicle storage facility is open daily (including public holidays) from 0-24 hours.



For vehicles that have been seized by the police, for example because they are relevant in the context of investigations or court proceedings, please contact the depot at Halskestrasse 24-26 in Hamburg. You can reach them on site or by calling 428 6 694-11 or 428 6 694-12.

Procedure

  • You call the responsible office and inquire about the whereabouts of your vehicle, when and where you can pick it up, and the amount of the costs you have to pay to collect your vehicle.
  • You pick up your vehicle and pay the costs.

The processing time varies from case to case.

Fees

There is an official fee of 75.00 euros. There is also a storage fee, which depends on the type of your vehicle and the duration of storage.




Motor vehicle with a permissible total weight of up to 4t or a single-axle trailer (normal car)


  • For the first 24 hours: 135.00 Euro

  • Each additional 24 hours: 15.00 Euro


Motor vehicle with a permissible total mass of over 4t up to 7.5t

  • For the first 24 hours: 202.00 Euro

  • Each additional 24 hours: 30.00 Euro


Bicycle, moped, moped or small motorcycle with insurance number plate

  • For the first 24 hours: 27.00 Euro

  • Each additional 24 hours: 4.00 Euro


Motorcycle

  • For the first 24 hours: 68.00 Euro

  • Each additional 24 hours: 10.00 Euro
