Prerequisites

The vehicle is still registered in Hamburg.

Documents required

The notification of sale contains the following data:

• Name, first name and full address of the purchaser
• Name, first name and full address of the seller
• the registration number of the vehicle
• Confirmation of the purchaser with signature that he has received the registration certificate part I and part II as well as the license plates

Please note

The notice of sale must contain the complete data of the purchaser (name and address) and the vehicle (license plate and vehicle identification number).

The vehicle tax is only reduced if the vehicle has been re-registered or de-registered.

The notice of sale must be in writing.
The transmission can take place by post, fax or as a scanned document by e-mail. Alternatively, you can also submit the advertisement in person at one of the LBV locations (without an appointment).

Vehicle sales abroad
When selling a vehicle abroad, it is advisable to put the vehicle out of service beforehand, as the feedback from abroad is not always reliably guaranteed.

Procedure

Submit the notice of sale with all the necessary data to the LBV using a transmission method of your choice.
