Under certain conditions, you can request information from the vehicle register. This information can only be provided if there is a need to pursue legal claims related to road traffic, for example, in the case of traffic accidents.
You must submit your request for information either in person or in writing. Requests or inquiries cannot be answered over the phone.
Information is available for Hamburg vehicles with official license plates, as well as for temporary license plates (short-term plates and red plates). Insurance license plates are not stored in the local vehicle register. For this information, you must contact the relevant motor vehicle insurance company.
