Detailed description

You must have name and address changes, as well as technical modifications to the vehicle, recorded in your vehicle documents. The vehicle documents consist of the registration certificate Part I (vehicle registration document) and the registration certificate Part II (vehicle title document).

 

Information

Prerequisites

The vehicle mustbe registered or licensed in Hamburg.

Documents required

  • Identity card: a valid identity card or an electronic residence permit (eAT) or passport with a current registration confirmation (in the case of a name change, the new name must already be entered in the identity document)
  • a declaration of consent from all legal guardians in the case of persons who are not fully legally competent
  • the registration certificate part I (vehicle registration document)
  • the registration certificate Part II (vehicle registration document) - not mandatory in case of change of address
  • valid HU certificate
  • the appointment confirmation

Additionally, if the name changes:

  • the name change or marriage certificate

Additionally, in the case of a technical change:

  • Proof of the changes (technical report from a technical inspection body, e.g. TÜV or Dekra) in the original
  • For tax-relevant technical modifications: an original SEPA mandate completed by the owner for the collection of vehicle tax. If the tax is to be paid not by the owner themselves but by a so-called third party willing to pay, a copy of the third party's ID card is required.
  • If the vehicle type or use changes: the electronic insurance confirmation (eVB).

If the application is to be submitted by proxy, also:

  • a legibly completed original power of attorney and a legible color copy of the vehicle owner’s ID card.
  • Original ID of the authorized representative

Change in HamburgService on site:
You can also have the initial address change on your vehicle registration document (ZB I) made as part of the change of residence registration process at one of HamburgService's locations. This applies to private vehicles that already have a Hamburg license plate.

An appointment is required for vehicle registration.

  • Visit our website to book an appointment (see link below).
  • Select the category: Vehicle registration
  • Then select: Change of vehicle documents - technical change or name change / address change within Hamburg .
  • Follow the steps to reserve an appointment.
  • You will receive an email. Confirm your reservation using the link in the email.
  • You will receive an appointment confirmation. Please bring it with you to your appointment.

Deadlines

Changes must be entered immediately.

Procedure

  • Book an appointment online.
  • Bring all necessary documents with you.
  • Your request will be processed on site and your documents will be handed over.

Your application will be processed directly on site.

Fees

The fees range from EUR 11 to EUR 50. The exact amount can only be determined after reviewing all the documents. The fee amount is based on the Fee Schedule for Measures in Road Traffic (GebOSt).


If your vehicle documents need to be changed due to a street name change, there are no fees.
