The vehicle can only be re-registered with the LBV if the main residence of the keeper under registration law is in Hamburg. A personal change of registration must have already taken place.

Documents required

The following documents must be submitted for approval:

  • a valid identity card or passport with a current confirmation of registration
  • the vehicle documents (registration certificate part I and II) or a de-registration certificate
  • the electronic confirmation of insurance as an eVB code (available from the motor vehicle insurance company)
  • the previous license plates if new license plates are to be or must be issued
  • a declaration of consent from all legal guardians in the case of minors/persons who are not fully legally competent
