Stop and park, apply for a parking permit as a doctor, nurse or midwife

If you run a nursing service, are a doctor or a midwife, you can apply for a parking permit. This allows you to park in certain areas for the duration of your work assignment.

Important notes

Prerequisites

  • Necessary and specific nursing activity for which it is absolutely necessary to park the vehicle on site
  • The application must contain precise information on the purpose of vehicle use and/or the maintenance work to be carried out.

Documents required

  • a signed, informal application with a detailed description of the activity to be carried out
  • a copy (front and back) of the registration certificate part I (vehicle registration document) of the vehicle for which the approval is to apply
additionally for care services:
  • Proof of activity (e.g. a copy of the business registration or the extract from the commercial register)
  • If applicable, current proof of membership in a welfare association (from the current calendar year)
additionally for midwives:
  • Proof of professional practice as a midwife (e.g. registration for freelance work, certificate of permission to use the professional title)
additionally for general practitioners:
  • Proof of home visits (e.g. confirmation from the Association of Statutory Health Insurance Physicians)

Please note

Important: Your exemption must be clearly displayed in the vehicle!
An exemption is issued for a specific vehicle and is not transferable to other vehicles. The number plate is entered in the exception approval. If you change vehicles, you can apply for a fee-based license plate change during the validity period of the special permit.

Deadlines

The period of validity of the exemption is one year.

Procedure & Fees

Procedure

You are welcome to use our digital application process to apply (see link under Links). Alternatively, you can also submit your application by post or e-mail, provided that all the necessary documents are available or have been sent along.
The Landesbetrieb Verkehr (LBV) checks your application and sends you the exemption or rejection by post.
Questions on your part or on the part of the LBV can be processed via the digital application process or by telephone or e-mail.

Processing time

The processing time is usually 2 - 6 weeks.

Fees

The fee for an exemption depends, among other things, on its period of validity. Please refer to the overview below for the respective amount of fees.

If the nursing service has up-to-date proof of membership in a welfare association, the approvals are free of charge in certain cases in accordance with the Ordinance on the Freedom from Administrative Fees (Fee Freedom Ordinance - GebFreiVO).

Please note that in the event of a rejection, a fee of 75% will also be incurred. The basis for this is the Administrative Costs Act (VwKostG) in conjunction with the scale of charges for road traffic measures (GebOSt). With the application there is no legal entitlement to the granting of a special permit.

Subsequent withdrawal of an application is also subject to a fee. In this case, a fee of 50% of the actual fee for granting the exemption applies.

Fees for an exemption valid for:

  • 6 months - EUR 150.00*

  • 12 months - EUR 250.00*

  • 18 months - EUR 350.00*

  • 24 months - EUR 450.00*

  • 30 months - EUR 550.00*

  • 36 months - EUR 650.00*

*(plus EUR 0.30 per adhesive seal)
