Detailed description

According to the Hamburg Surveying Act, all buildings must be recorded in the land register. If you build a new building or alter an existing building in such a way that the floor plan changes, you as the owner are obligated to have a survey carried out promptly. This ensures that the official documents remain up to date.

The responsible authority monitors compliance with the building surveying requirement. Once your building is completed, you will be notified in a timely manner so that you can commission the necessary surveying.

You can commission a surveying agency of your choice or the responsible authority to do this.

Procedure

  • After the completion of a new building or a significant change to the floor plan, the responsible authority checks whether there is an obligation to carry out surveying.
  • You will be informed in writing about the obligation to measure and asked to have a survey carried out.
  • You commission the measurement.
  • The commissioned surveying authority carries out the survey using an appropriate procedure and prepares the relevant surveying documents.
  • The survey documents are forwarded to the responsible authority, which enters the data into the land register.
  • You bear the costs for the survey and the entry into the cadastre.
  • You will receive confirmation of the survey by sending you a property map.
