Apply for a driver's license, motorcycle classes (AM, A1, A2, A)

Prerequisites

• The application can be submitted at the earliest 1/2 year before reaching the minimum age.
• The main residence is Hamburg
• The lessons in a driving school have been completed (the application is made beforehand.)
• The theoretical and practical test was passed successfully (the application is made beforehand).
• The minimum age has been reached (16 years for AM and A1, 18 years for A2, 20 years for A with previous ownership of A2, 21 years for trikes, 24 years for motorcycles if purchased directly)

Documents required

• Valid identity card or passport with current registration certificate
• 1 biometric passport photo 35 X 45 mm
• Certificate of participation in first aid
• Eye test (by an optician or ophthalmologist, validity: max. 2 years)

The driving license offices LBV-Mitte and LBV-Nord are responsible.

With two years of previous ownership of class A1, class A2 can only be acquired by passing the practical test (without the theoretical test).

With two years of previous possession of class A2, class A can only be acquired by passing the practical test (without the theoretical test). The ascent from A2 to A is possible at the age of 20.

Validity of driving licenses
The validity of the driver's license issued from January 19, 2013 is limited to 15 years, after which a new issue is required. The driving license remains valid - no new test is required. Driver's licenses issued before January 19, 2013 must be exchanged by January 19, 2033 at the latest.

43.40 EUR according to the fee schedule for measures in road traffic (GebOSt)
