Replace driver card, company card and workshop card (driver's license) after theft or loss

Prerequisites

The application to the Landesbetrieb Verkehr (LBV) is only possible if the driver and the company have their main residence in Hamburg.

The following applies to the driver card:

The application must only be submitted in person.

If the driver card and workshop card are lost:

An affidavit must be submitted, this is subject to a fee. In the event of theft, the police must be reported.

Documents required

Please bring the following documents for your driver card to the appointment:

• a valid identity card or an electronic residence permit (eAT) or passport with current registration confirmation of the driver
• a biometric passport photo 35 x 45 millimeters - not older than 1 year
• EU card driving licence
• In case of theft, file a police report (Note: In case of theft abroad, the report must be submitted by a sworn translator).
• In case of loss, a sworn affidavit regarding the loss is required.

Procedure

For driver cards and company cards:

• You book an appointment online.
  • On our website for booking appointments, select the category "Driver's license" for the driver card and the category "Other services" for the company card.
  • Depending on your request, book the appointment "Application for driver card" or "Application for company card"
  • You will receive an email. Confirm your reserved appointment using the link in the email.
• Please bring all necessary documents and the appointment confirmation with you to your appointment at the LBV.
• Scan the QR code on your appointment confirmation using the scanner on site.
• Take a seat in the waiting area. You will be called by your call number.
• Your request will be processed on site.

For workshop cards:

• Please send your documents and the application form by email to fuehrerschein@lbv.hamburg.de.
• Your request will be processed on site.
• After production, the workshop card will be sent to you by registered mail.

Processing time

The creation of your new driver card takes approximately 5-10 working days from receipt of your application.

Fees

The fees are between EUR 38.00 and EUR 72.30. The exact amount of the fee can only be determined on site using the complete documentation.
