Early detection examinations for children U6/U7, consultation

You can arrange preventive medical check-ups for your child. These check-ups involve a medical examination of their general health and age-appropriate development, so that any potential problems can be detected and treated early.

Detailed description

Preventive medical checkups for children help support a child's healthy development. This allows illnesses and developmental delays to be detected and treated early. The costs of these checkups are covered by all statutory and most private health insurance companies if they are carried out within the legally prescribed timeframe. This is a service you can access at your pediatrician's office.



To remind legal guardians to carry out the U6 and U7 examinations, they will be notified in writing by the social services department before the start of the examination period.

Prerequisites

  • U6 10th-12th month of life
  • U7 21st-24th month of life

Documents required

  • yellow examination booklet
  • electronic health card
  • Vaccination certificate

Please note

From August 1, 2025, until approximately February 1, 2027, parents/guardians will only receive an invitation letter, which does not include a reply card (procedure until July 31, 2026). For documentation purposes, the yellow examination booklet must be brought to the examination and presented.

Deadlines


  • U6: Feedback via the reply card by the 12th month of life; possible examination period: 9th to 14th month of life

  • U7: Feedback via the reply card by the 24th month of life; possible examination period: 20th to 27th month of life (see also "Current Information")
