Apply for a renewable energy subsidy

The Hamburg Investment and Development Bank (IFB Hamburg) provides subsidies for measures that increase the share of renewable energies in the heating supply of buildings.

Detailed description

The promotion of renewable energy for heating buildings is intended to help reduce carbon dioxide (CO₂) emissions in the long term. If you want to make your home or property more environmentally friendly, you can receive a government subsidy. This means you will receive money if you install certain heat-generating systems that use renewable energy. For example, there are subsidies for:

  • Solar thermal systems from 20 m²,
  • Bioenergy plants,
  • heat pumps,
  • Geothermal energy (geothermal energy),
  • PVT systems (combination of photovoltaics and solar thermal energy)
  • Heat recovery from wastewater,
  • heat distribution networks,
  • heat storage,
  • or if you use areas multiple times, for example for the generation of heat from renewable sources

This protects the environment and the climate.

You can receive a maximum grant of EUR 500,000 per project. This maximum amount applies to projects receiving funding from a single module as well as to projects receiving funding from multiple modules of this funding program. For more detailed information on the individual measures, please refer to the funding program.

Information

Prerequisites

  • The building to be supplied with eligible renewable heat is located in Hamburg.
  • You are the landowner or have the right to dispose of the property.
  • The systems to be installed meet the technical requirements, which you can find in the funding program.

Documents required

  • Proof of identity of the builder (e.g. identity card)
  • Proof of ownership (usually the current land register extract)
  • Official site plan (cadastral map)
  • Cost estimates
  • Project description (except for single-family houses / two-family houses)
  • For new construction projects: Proof of transmission heat loss of the building envelope
  • Self-declaration of the SME definition (only for companies, freelancers and self-employed applicants)

Additional systems for subsidizing solar collector systems:

  • Documentation of the solar simulation

Additional systems for heat pump subsidies:

  • Calculation of the annual performance factor

Additional facilities for the promotion of biomass plants:

  • Hydraulic standard circuit of the publication series “Quality Management – Wood Heating Plants”

Additional facilities for the promotion of heat distribution networks:

  • Energetic concept
  • Economic viability calculation

Please note

You may only begin the project after funding has been approved. A project is considered to have begun once you have concluded supply and service contracts.

Only in urgent exceptional cases may you begin your project earlier. Please coordinate this with the Hamburg Investment and Development Bank in advance.

Deadlines
