Detailed description
The “Program Management of the European Social Fund (ESF)” (AI 33) department is responsible for the planning and management of the implementation of the Hamburg program for the European Social Fund Plus (ESF Plus) with a total volume of 137.5 million euros (2021-2027) for the state of Hamburg. The ESF Plus is the European Union's main instrument for investing in people. The ESF Plus is therefore used to finance measures in the areas of employment, social affairs, education and skills. The ESF Plus is available to all authorities involved in every single funding decision. The responsibility and accountability for the ESF Plus lies exclusively with the social welfare authority. In cooperation with all Hamburg specialist authorities, the Senate Chancellery and the districts as well as the economic and social partners, the AI 33 department plans the activities worthy of funding based on the specifications of the ESF Plus program, organizes the award procedures, advises potential applicants, monitors the program implementation through monitoring and controlling procedures coordinated with the European Commission, and carries out its own public relations work for the European Social Fund. AI 33 is responsible to the European Commission for monitoring proper implementation and fulfilling all reporting obligations. Together with the department responsible for the entire grant-related processing in ESF Plus, AI 33 acts as a service provider for all Hamburg authorities and for the economic and social partners.
