Apply for permission to release balloons

If you want to release balloons – for example, as part of an event – you may need a permit.

Detailed description

If you want to release balloons at an event, such as a wedding, you may need an aviation permit and/or air traffic control clearance. The location and the number of balloons you want to release depend on this. You must apply for permission in advance from the responsible authority. Balloons are not permitted to be released within a 1.5-kilometer radius of an airfield.

Procedure & Fees

Procedure

You submit your application online or by email to the responsible office.
- If you apply by email, the following information is required from you:
  - Date of ascent
  - Ascent time
  - Balloon quantity
  - exact ascent location
The responsible authority will examine your application and, if necessary, request any missing documents or information from you.
If you pass the exam, you will receive written permission.
