The practice of the pharmacist profession is the practice of a pharmaceutical activity, in particular the development, manufacture, testing or dispensing of drugs under the professional title of 'pharmacist'.
The pharmacist is (according to § 1 of the Federal Pharmacist Regulations (BApO) called to properly supply the population with pharmaceuticals. He thus serves the health of the individual and the entire population. According to 2 BApO, those who practice the pharmacist profession within the scope of this law are required wants to practice the license to practice as a pharmacist.
Exercising the pharmacist profession within the scope of this law is also permitted on the basis of a permit under Section 11 BApO.

Prerequisites
Training within the EU
As a rule, automatic recognition is possible for applicants who have completed their training within the EU, provided that proof of authorization to practice the pharmacist profession in their home country without restriction, issued by the authorities responsible there (e.g. diploma) in accordance with Annex V No. 5.6.2 of Directive 2005/36 / EC certificates of training for pharmacists are presented.
Training outside the EU
It is checked whether an equivalence between the submitted foreign training and the local training can be recognized. The documents listed below must be submitted for this. If necessary, a certified copy and a translation of these must be submitted. The content of the submitted training is then compared with the training in Hamburg. If this results in significant differences or deficits, a knowledge test before the state examination office is required, otherwise equivalence is recognized.

Documents required
Documents to be submitted (in the original or certified copy and, if necessary, translated):
1. Application with a declaration of pending criminal and investigative proceedings
2. Short, complete résumé with date and signature (including a list of the professional career)
3. birth certificate ,
in the case of married persons, also the marriage certificate or an extract from the family book
4. Proof of Identity
e.g. identity card, passport, travel document
5. Official certificate of good conduct of document type 0 ,

6. Medical certificate
(only on request, must not be older than three months when the license is granted).
7. Proof of training (s)
Proof of authorization to practice the pharmacist profession without restriction in your home country, issued by the competent authorities there (e.g. diploma).
8. Overview of subjects and hours (per semester)
which shows the subjects and hours actually taught as well as the hours of practical training (e.g. internship) and the content of the final state examination. (Only required for training outside the EU.)
9. Professional license certificates (if applicable)
other countries (worldwide). (Only required for training outside the EU.)
10. Certificate of Current Professional Status / Certificate of Good Standing
the competent authority (s) of the country (s) in which you last worked as a pharmacist.
11. Proof of German language skills (according to the Common European Framework of Reference (GER) of the Council of Europe)
- General: Proof by submitting a certificate of a passed exam at level B2, or alternatively by a personal interview
- Technical language: Evidence from a technical language test to be taken at the Hamburg Chamber of Pharmacists at level C 1 (at the latest until the approval is granted)

Please note
Foreign certificates must be submitted with certified translations by state-sworn translators. For training that was completed outside of the EU, EEA or Switzerland, official documents must be confirmed by an apostille or legalization. Information on this at: http: /www.konsularinfo.diplo.de
Procedure & Fees
Processing time
The duration of the procedure depends on the individual case. As a rule, applicants with training in so-called third countries must request information from the Central Office for Foreign Education (ZAB) in Bonn.
Fees
There are fees for issuing the license to practice medicine of at least 130 euros (training within the EU) or 360 euros (training outside the EU). In addition, there may be costs for e.g. printouts, the determination of equivalence, the granting of a professional permit, technical language test, expert opinions and / or knowledge test.
