Direct payments

The direct payments are area-related payments by the EU that are decoupled from production to support agricultural holdings (central element of the first pillar of the Common Agricultural Policy (CAP)).

In 2013 a fundamental reform of the CAP was decided. As a result of this reform, the single farm payment granted up to and including 2014 was replaced by a system of direct payments that came into force in 2015, consisting of a basic payment, redistribution payment, greening payment and, if applicable, a young farmer payment. The payments are therefore also linked to the provision of specific services for climate and environmental protection.

The states of Schleswig-Holstein and Hamburg have agreed in a state treaty that the administration of the direct payments for the Hamburg farmers from Schleswig-Holstein will be carried out. Applications for direct payments should therefore be sent to the LLUR in Itzehoe.
