District Office Hamburg-Nord

Data Protection Officers of the Districts General Information

The data protection officer is responsible for data protection matters. Further information can be found here.

Detailed description

Every public body is legally required to appoint a data protection officer. The data protection officer is the contact person for all data protection matters relating to the districts. Data subjects can contact the data protection officer if they have questions about the processing of their personal data or wish to exercise their rights under the General Data Protection Regulation (GDPR).

The data protection officer also performs internal administrative tasks. As an employee of the respective administrative unit, you can, for example, contact this office if you need advice or support on data protection issues.

The official data protection officer of the district offices is responsible for supporting the district departments and their staff councils in implementing the Hamburg Data Protection Act (HmbDSG) and other regulations.

Information

Prerequisites

You have a data protection concern that affects the administrative unit to which the data protection officer is assigned.

Documents required

Whether documents are required depends on your specific request. Often, a brief description of the situation is sufficient for initial contact. In certain cases, further documents may be helpful or necessary. The responsible office will inform you if any documents are required.

Often, a declaration releasing someone from the obligation of confidentiality is required.

If you are contacting the relevant authority not for yourself, but for another person (for example, family members), a written power of attorney from that person is required, stating that you are authorized to submit applications on their behalf and to receive the responses.

Please note

There are no special features.

Deadlines

There are no universally applicable deadlines. However, it is advisable to report concerns or complaints as early as possible so that they can be reviewed and processed quickly.

In certain cases, such as data breaches, you must comply with the legal deadlines for reporting to the supervisory authority or for notifying affected parties.

Procedure

  • You contact the relevant authority and describe your request.
  • The responsible authority will review your request and clarify what measures are necessary.
  • You will receive feedback, advice, or support regarding your request. If necessary, the data protection officer will coordinate further steps, such as obtaining an internal statement.
