'With migrants for migrants' is the motto and concept of the project at the same time. Migrants with experience in the health and social sector are trained to become intercultural health mediators as part of the project. The intercultural health mediators convey important information to their compatriots in a culturally sensitive manner and in their respective mother tongue about the structure and offers of the German health system as well as other topics of health promotion and prevention and take on an important mediation function within the framework of health networks. The intercultural project MiMi Hamburg is funded by the Hanseatic City of Hamburg and the BKK regional association NORDWEST. The Association for Open Child and Youth Work Hamburg eV carries out the project in cooperation with the Ethno-Medical Center eV. There are many possible uses for health mediators such as: native speaker information events on various health topics (such as the German health system, nutrition, exercise, family planning, child health, vaccinations, senior citizens' health, etc.) translation in different health contexts. Support of campaigns on current health issues. Individual support in special health situations.
