Prerequisites

• You live permanently in the Free and Hanseatic City of Hamburg.
• The symbol BL is entered on your severely disabled person’s ID card.

Documents required

• Identity card or passport with current registration certificate,
• Severely disabled person’s ID card with the note Bl or
• Notice from the pension office

Please note

You can receive blindness benefits regardless of income or assets. This is intended to offset the additional expenses caused by blindness.
Certain benefits, such as care allowance, are credited towards the blind person’s benefit.
