If you receive housing benefit or child allowance according to the Federal Child Benefit Act, you can receive this benefit as part of the education package.
School children are paid a total of 174 euros per year for learning materials, 116 euros at the beginning of the school year (usually August 1st) and 58 euros at the beginning of the second half of the school year (usually February 1st).
In addition to school bags and sports equipment, personal school supplies also include writing, calculation and drawing materials, such as fountain pens, crayons, compasses, set squares and erasers.
Expenses for consumables that need to be purchased regularly, such as notebooks, pencils and ink, must be covered by the housing benefit/child allowance.
Important notes
Prerequisites
- Schoolchildren under the age of 25 who or whose parents are receiving housing benefit or child allowance under the Federal Child Benefit Act
- Attending a general or vocational school, including pre-school
- no training allowance received
Documents required
- Copy of the notification of approval or the certificate (confirmation of benefits) for housing benefit or child allowance
- Application (see link application school supplies - education package)
- School certificate (is issued by the school)
The certificate (confirmation of benefits) is a short notice that only contains the data required for applying for benefits (name, approval period, date of birth, address, legal basis for benefit receipt).
Please note
For children younger than 7 years or older than 15 years , a school certificate must be enclosed.
The receipts for the purchase of school materials must be kept and presented upon request.
