Recipients of citizen's benefit and social benefit (SGB II) can receive this benefit as part of the education package. School children are paid a total of 174 euros per year for learning materials, 116 euros at the beginning of the school year (usually August 1st) and 58 euros at the beginning of the second half of the school year (usually February 1st).
In addition to school bags and sports equipment, personal school supplies also include writing, calculation and drawing materials, such as fountain pens, crayons, compasses, set squares and erasers.
Expenses for consumables that have to be purchased regularly, such as notebooks, pencils and ink, must be covered from ALG II or social benefits.
Important notes
Prerequisites
- Children under the age of 25 (or their parents) who receive benefits under SGB II (citizen's allowance / social benefit).
- Attendance at a general or vocational school, including pre-school
- no receipt of a training allowance

For children under seven and over 15 years of age: Application (see link Application for school supplies - educational package) and school certificate (issued by the school)
Please note
The services for school requirements are requested from the job center.
An additional application is not required for children between the ages of seven and 15, in these cases the money will be transferred automatically.

The previous regulation, according to which 100 euros were paid once at the beginning of the school year, no longer applies.
