District assemblies are formed in Hamburg at each of the seven district offices (Hamburg-Mitte, Altona, Eimsbüttel, Hamburg-Nord, Wandsbek, Bergedorf and Harburg). Through the district assembly, the population can participate in matters of significance for the district. I.a. it controls the administration and elects the district administration. The meetings of the district assembly and its committees are generally public.

Please note

The number of members of the district assemblies depends on the population of the districts. For districts with up to 150,000 inhabitants, the district assembly consists of 45 members (Bergedorf), for more than 150,000 up to 400,000 of 51 members (Hamburg-Mitte, Altona, Eimsbüttel, Hamburg-Nord, Harburg) and from 400,000 inhabitants from 57 members (Wandsbek).
