Detailed description

Trucks over 7.5 tons and trucks with trailers are prohibited from driving on Sundays and public holidays between midnight and 10 p.m. This applies to the entire road network in Germany.
You can apply for an exemption for urgent and absolutely necessary transports.
This applies, for example, to the delivery of fresh food and medicines, time-bound transports or the return journey of an empty truck after a completed delivery.

Prerequisites

  • Your truck weighs over 7.5 tons or tows a trailer.
  • You would like to drive your truck on a Sunday or public holiday between midnight and 10 p.m.
  • You can prove and justify that this trip is absolutely necessary.

Documents required

The required documents depend on the individual case. To find out which documents you need to submit, please feel free to contact the Exception Permit Management Department of the State Transport Authority (LBV) for advice beforehand. This is possible by phone or email.

Please note that an exemption cannot be granted for economic or organizational reasons.

Deadlines

Applications for an exemption from the Sunday driving ban for next Sunday must be submitted via the online application process by Thursday at 12:00 noon at the latest.




You must submit an application for an exemption from the holiday driving ban no later than 2 working days (Monday to Friday) in advance.

  • You can request advice in advance by telephone on +49 (40) 428 58 2492 or by email on ausnahmen@lbv.hamburg.de.
  • You submit all the required documents via our online process.
  • Your documents will be reviewed.
  • You will be informed of the decision in writing.

Processing time

Processing will be quick. Please note the application deadlines.

Fees

The fee for a one-day exemption is EUR 50.00.


For a permanent exemption for 12 months, the fee is EUR 300.00.
