Apply for exemption, import vehicles

Documents required

The documents required depend on the individual case. At least the following are required:

• a valid identity card or passport with a current registration certificate
• an expert opinion from an officially recognized expert for motor vehicle traffic
• if necessary, a power of attorney
• possibly a reserved number

Please note

Since safety requirements and structural deviations can differ greatly, a decision can only be made on a single case. The best thing to do is to contact the transport and approval management of the Landesbetrieb Verkehr (LBV) by telephone before submitting the application.

Important: Exemptions for imported vehicles are only processed in the Mitte location.

Deadlines

Registration must take place immediately.

Fees

The exact amount of the fees always depends on the individual case and cannot be communicated in advance. The basis for the fee level is the fee schedule for measures in road traffic (GebOSt).
